The curriculum used at Imanuela Akatemia blends the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) curriculum with the Cook Islands Curriculum. The A.C.E. curriculum is a complete, pre-planned, prepared, multi-learning style programme written from a biblical worldview. This programme is used as our core curriculum from Early Childhood to Secondary school graduation. As with any curriculum, it is only as good as it is used; so with this stringent, well balanced curriculum comes excellent staff who implement best practice in teaching and learning which, in turn, brings about the best learning outcomes for each of our students.
The curriculum is inclusive, differentiated and self-paced, where learning is the constant and student’s age being the variable. A child who commences their schooling with our curriculum has the potential to graduate at an age younger than the norm, or they may graduate on or after; it depends on the acquisition of the learning – not how old they are. The emphasis is on excellence and mastery of learning, where students progress only after they have mastered the learning, thereby building confidence in the child. This is unlike other curriculums where the child is forced to progress with the rest of the class despite the learning. Additional educational materials are also offered, such as Rosetta Stone web-based language learning, Distance Education packages, and NCEA credit subjects offered at Cook Islands Tertiary Training Institute. Students who follow through our curriculum to Secondary school graduation receive a New Zealand Accelerated Christian Education Level 3 Certificate, which is recognized for higher education entry at all universities in New Zealand.
