Kia Orana and Greetings from Imanuela Akatemia, I extend a warm welcome to families looking for a school of excellence in beautiful Rarotonga, Cook Islands. Imanuela Akatemia is truly an international community with both the staff and students being from both local and international families, working together in unity, exhibiting love, joy and grace. Since the school first opened in 1993, Imanuela has offered a strong Christ-centred curriculum focusing on excellence and mastery of learning. Using the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum as our core, we are strong in developing literacy and numeracy, general knowledge, critical thinking and in building a strong foundation to prepare our students for whatever career they wish to pursue. The scaffolding of learning opportunities deliberately builds on prior learning and achievement is assured with the one to one tuition each child receives. To enhance learning there are many opportunities for collaboration and exploration throughout the week. Our students benefit from a wholesome blending of the Cook Islands Curriculum subjects and the Core subjects of Mathematics, English, Word Building (spelling), Social Studies, Science, Literature and Creative Writing, and Bible subjects. Our teachers work closely with the Cook Islands Ministry of Education to ensure the best outcomes for our students.
Our students have the opportunity to develop and learn at their own pace, always striving for excellence. They have the opportunity to compete in interschool sporting events and other academic competitions. Our students build skills in listening, thinking, writing, public speaking, creative arts, and Health and Physical Education to balance out the academic subjects. Our staff are passionate and are themselves lifelong learners, putting the individual needs of each child as a priority. We believe that all children can learn to the very best of their ability. Experiencing and building knowledge of the local Cook Islands culture and language is important to us at Imanuela Akatemia. With a dedicated, developing Maori programme, our students embrace the Cook Islands language, and participate in cultural days, and inter-school cultural events. The development of Christ-like character is foundational throughout the life of our school; thus equipping our students to have an outwards focus and a servant’s heart, whilst not compromising on our academic standards. Remember, your child is building the foundation for a successful life by being transformed by the renewing of their mind day by day with wholesome, Biblical standards throughout all of our curriculum. Our motto comes from the verse, Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old he will not depart from it”.
I thoroughly commend Imanuela Akatemia for your consideration and recommend that you come and experience our values of building Biblical character. Experience and share in the opportunities and achievements, from 3 years-old to Secondary school leaving (Level 3, Year 13).
Meitaki Manuia (Blessings) The Principal
